Lucius Demake is a remake of the first Lucius game that was released onto Steam on August 9th 2016.
Production[]
Demake was created after a fan-made 16-bit image of the original game went viral, with Shiver Games taking it as an interesting concept to pursue.
An official announcement was made on June 6th 2016 which noted this game would come before Lucius III since it's "gonna take some patience" to make. The game was later released to Android devices on October 10th, 2017 and it can be bought on the Google Play and Amazon App stores.
It is jokingly called a "Demake" because of its premise of being a lower graphical version of the 2012 game, styled after old 8-bit C64 games -- a game console popular in the 1980s.
Changes from Original[]
- Instead of 3D, the game is now entirely 2D.
- During night scenes, the entire screen goes black and the flashlight must be used to see anything.
- If Demake had been released in the era it was styled in (1980s), it would likely be a direct video game adaptation of The Omen, which happens to be the main inspiration for Lucius.
- All the of the spoken dialogue is now silent and in a text box which also indicates the character saying it.
- All Chapters in the original game have largely been left the same, except forTrue Fan of Destruction and The End is Here; the final two chapters in the original game.
- Demake's True Fan of Destruction has Lucius levitate the statues into the fan causing it to break.
- In Demake's The End is Here, there is only one option to defeat the priests and Charles Wagner individually. Father Lagel is defeated by throwing furniture at him as in the original, but Father Dicosimo is in the laundry room instead of the garage and can only be defeated with combustion after all crosses have been turned. To defeat his father, the player must drop the chandelier.
Trivia[]
